[Boatanchors] Tube socket problems

Gene,

Cleaning both the tube pin and the socket with cleaner (and sometimes a
small brush) usually works for me.

In extreme cases, most tube sockets contacts can easily be removed and replaced. You can usually find an unused socket contact or two in the problematic receiver. I have had to replace quite a few contacts in loctal sockets which I find most problematic and miniatures are a close second. I don't recall ever having a problem with octal sockets.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Tube socket problems

I frequently run into this problem and wonder if any one has come up with a
easy, simple solution:

How do you clean the tube socket connections?

This is a big problem on a rig that has been sitting for a long time and has
been stored in less than ideal conditions.

The tubes check ok but when I wiggle the tube there is either a lot of noise
in the receiver or the filament goes out.

The solder connections on the socket are ok.

I have tried squeezing the contacts together with a small pick and used
contact cleaner and it helps somewhat, but the above problem still persists.
. . .

Any ideas????
