"Everyone to their own taste, said the old lady as she kissed a cow."
(My mother left me with that thought.)
The way I read the spec sheet, the 111 should certainly get the job
done. However, my personal preference is to use a receiver, like a
Super-Pro or an AR-88, that has variable IF selectivity, and clean
audio. That way, when conditions are good, and the other guy has a nice
signal, I can open up the bandwidth and enjoy. The widest bandwidth on
the SX-111 is 5 KHz. This limits the audio to 2.5 KHz. Great for
intelligibility when the going is difficult but will sound restricted
when the copy is good.
Anyway, get the Halli off the shelf and get on the air!
Regards,
Al
