Hi Lee and congrats on  your new receiver.  I love the Drakes, but every 
one I've had has had a bad crystal, or so it seems.  I'd bet that's your 
problem as they seem to be somewhat notorious for it.   The good news 
is, if you're willing to chop open an old crystal or otherwise come up 
with a suitable means of making it fit, you can buy a new 11.000 mhz 
crystal from Mouser for 53 cents!  

Mouser stock # 520-HCU-1100-SX     It's in an HC-49/U housing, but with 
a little creativity will work just fine.
