Yes, the IG-42, with the meter set to "10" and the Step Attenuator set
to "x10,000" if calibrated correctly, put 100,000 uV RMS into a 50 ohm
load. That is 0.1V RMS or 0.2828V p-p, which should be enough to drive
any counter worth the name up to 30 MHz.
Unfortunately, it does not have an "uncalibrated" output to drive an
external counter. Certainly one could be added. Heath really did a
nice job cooping the RF up inside the cabinet, fully shielding all
circuitry inside the outer cabinet and including a power line filter to
keep RF off the line cord as well. It's about as good a job as you
could ask for a generator in it's price range.
Plus, it's a LOT easier to move around than my HP-606A!!
