The IG-42 is a RF signal generator. The max output may be too low for your
counter. You need to put a scope or receiver on the output.

Picked up a Heathkit IG-42 and started checking it out. The tubes light, the
OB2 glows but it seems nothing is coming out of the unit. The meter on the
unit shows that there is something there (I can change the meter reading
with the front control knob - evento full scale)....but I cannot get my
counter to lock to any frequency that is being generated by the unit. The
counter works great with the MFJ259 and will read the frequency. Anyone have
any ideas? I guess I should buy the manual and see what the specs are...and
how to operate the darn thing.

In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. If you
don't have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it. If you
can't find any Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common
Sense. Is Common Sense divine?
