[Boatanchors] DX-35 Problem(s)

Another thing I've done with fairly uncomplicated kits like this one: Take
it apart right down to the chassis (perhaps leaving things like the
bandswitch with its coils that may be damaged.) I usually just replace the
small caps and resistors, and test the other parts as best I can. Then,
rebuild according to the manual. Besides making sure that it is now wired
properly, it's a lot of fun! Sometimes there's a bad ground that causes
problems.
Someone else pointed out that there's a possibility that it never worked!
Since you're getting plate voltage, the transformer is ok, and all the rest
of the parts are easy to get or fairly indestructible. Check the continuity
of all the coils to make sure none are open. Then just "rekit." It should
only take a couple of evenings. I've done this with several kits, with
great results.
My offer still stands to compare anything on my DX35.

Well, my fellow Hams, I GIVE UP1
It seems as though every time I find something that might be wrong and
correct it, I get different symptoms.
I have spent several weeks on this and have not discovered the problem(s),
so I QUIT.
It is very hard to try and fix something without the proper test equipment,
namely a scope. . . . .
Thanks to all that have offered help.
