Also...regarding test equipment. If you don't have a VTVM, get or borrow
one.  That's about all you need, and Heathkit ones usually go for about $5
at hamfests and auctions.  I find a Cap checker to be valuable, too, as well
as freq counters, but they're pricier.  As far as a scope....I never used
one on any low power xmtrs I have!  I'm no engineer or tech, just a
hobbyist.  You'll get it going!

Well, my fellow Hams, I GIVE UP1

It seems as though every time I find something that might be wrong and 
correct it, I get different symptoms.

I have spent several weeks on this and have not discovered the problem(s), 
so I QUIT.

It is very hard to try and fix something without the proper test equipment, 
namely a scope. . . . .
