My Boat Anchors don't have PROGRAMMING! I don't own a HF RICEBOX! I am a 74
year old retired EE. At one point I held a commercial FCC ticket.

I have 2 Boat Anchor HF rigs. The first is a Heath Novice Station
(DX-60/HG-10/HR-10). The second is a Benton Harbor S-Line (SB-301/SB-401).

Both these rigs have a few front panel knobs wit markings that are easy to
read. When I operate I know what band I want and what general frequency I
want. I turn the band switch to proper band, then turn the main tuning where
I want it. I don't need a computer to do this.

We have a regional RTTY net here at 8PM local time week nights. It is on
3595KC. I just set the SB-301 to 80M and 3595. The audio is then piped to
may computer that substitutes for a TTY machine. That's as much computer
complexity as I need for my radio interests. I do use PSK also at times.
That's the extent of my DIGITAL interest.

Out of a 40 year career as a DESIGN EE I spent 30 of it with computers. The
first 10 years were 90% analog. When I found the old radios being sold on
eBay at prices I could afford I bought equipment that I could not afford in
the 60's. And I am very happy to find there are others like me that actually
prefer operating this OLD Boat Anchor gear!
