[Boatanchors] Speaking of SSB Converters--

I recently acquired an RCA Radiomarine AR-8516  receiver. After some 
capacitor replacement it works really well. What a stable  receiver it is.

I would like to use a Hammarlund HC-10 SSB converter with  this radio. I 
downloaded the manual for the HC-10 from BAMA, so I know about  adjusting it to 
the IF freq. of the receiver. The HC-10 seems to be working  properly. 

My question is: Is there a way to check the 455KC output jack  on the back of 
the AR-8516 to verify that it is working?

I feel like a  true amateur in the presence of all the technical expertise on 
this  list.
