The HS tubing might work, but will likely the cord will indent into it after a
while...  Like lacing cord into Teflon  covered wire. Ditto the plastic tool
handle grip plastic. IMO, neither would be a long term solution. Likely the
drive rod was pretty highly polished as the dial cord started to slip.
