[Boatanchors] Cleaning without dis-assembly

Say you have a rig that has been sitting for awhile and looks like this:

What's the best way to go about getting most of it clean without
removing a lot, if any, of the parts?  Would a mild detergent and
using those beveled sponge brushes used for staining work?  Pulling
the tubes first obviously.  Not looking to do a full, stripped down,
restoration, just want to get it as clean as I can before I use it.
