[Boatanchors] OT: Call sign assignments?

Sorry for the off topic.  On Sunday, I will be sitting for my extra exam. In the off-chance I actually pass it I would like to get a new, extra-class call sign (Current call is KC2NWG, I've only had it for 2 years since getting my tech)

Question is, if I check the box on the VEC605 form to apply for a new call, does anyone know what the calls look like that they are giving out these days? My preference would be a W2xx call, but I seem to think they've stopped giving those. So what might it look like? N2xx AA2x etc?

I am trying to figure out whether to just keep my call and apply for a W2 vanity (although I dont care too much about the specific letters) or whether to try to get one automatically assigned and if I don't like, then try a vanity?

Any thoughts or advice?
