Hi Ken,

A couple of clues from here: I've been using a professional Bay brand
work bench with a laminated maple top. (Kind of a high-end solution)
Anyway, it's 36 x 72" and the top is 34" off the floor. This is a good
height for standing or sitting on a stool.

If I were going to build something, I'd use 4 x 4 legs and 2 x 6
framing. Use carriage bolts with big washers for the major fasteners.
Brace the legs with diagonal pieces of some sort. A 3/4 plywood top
with a tempered Masonite surface stiffened by the 2 x 6's. I think I'd
want about 18" clearance under the top shelf.

73,
Al
