If the discussion had gone far afield, to something like collecting golf 
clubs for example, or someone starting slanging the other users, that's one 
thing, but buying, selling, and trading our radio gear is as much a part of 
the hobby as building equipment and operating it.  That's why that's the 
only kind of commerce the FCC allows on the air in the Amateur Radio 
Service when the question came up a couple or three decades ago and they 
green-lighted non-commercial swap nets.

Discussing experiences with eBay and being defrauded are a part of that and 
are as important to the boatanchor hobby as anything else we discuss.  If 
the list owner doesn't agree with that, then I suggest he prohibit for sale 
postings too.
