[Boatanchors] Topics of Discussion

Personally and frankly .... I dont know why we are getting so exercised
and genuflecting so much about topics of discussion...
especially on this board. I have "discovered" an absolutely MARVELOUS
little "invention" on my email program....
One little click... and the offending little tome vanishes into the
waste bucket. Then every so often I empty the garbage and it is
forever in the ether, never to be seen or thought of again, and never to
take up space on my hard drive.
Now, I have seen others pontificate to great lengths on the
esoterica of having to expend measures of time reading the
little tomes and the contents which may consist of insults, rants,
raves, and other self perceived offending comments, and I also have to
take a moment to scan quickly the tone and contents before deciding
whether or not to banish the text into the
wasteland of useless garbage (translated: CRAP) but, personally, I
do not have an ego of such great magnitude that I deem myself so busy or
important that the loss of even a microsecond is more than can be spared
in such a quick lookie see.....
Overall, I think if we treat the real or perceived offenders in the
same manner as we do a child throwing a temper tantrum, they will
eventually tire and go to their rooms and suck their thumbs ... we
just ignore them in other words. If we do not contribute by joining in
their screaming and foot stomping they will eventually run out of things
to rant and rave about and will tire of stomping their feet on the floor
and will fall asleep. As with a child's temper tantrum, there may be
a period of slight discomfort for us ... but "this too shall
pass"... That's where that marvelous little button labeled "delete"
comes into play.
If an offender, like a tantrum throwing child, perceives that there is
no audience for their antics, then they will, like a child, begin
to think there is no use in stomping around and yelling.
This is a very good mailing list and I have bought and sold and
learned a lot. I am not going anywhere.... and during
the times those of you who decide to throw temper tantrums do so ...
just remember my little delete button.... for you will
NOT have me in your audience. I am not impressed by screaming, yelling,
foul mouthed language or by stomping your feet on the ground and
throwing your toys around the room.
