[Boatanchors] D-104 Elements

Hi folks,
It seems like we are close to a consensus here. I'll agree, as usual,
with Glen, and add a bit.
I have mounted both of the Mouser sold cartridges in D-104 heads. You
must use stiff foam to hold them in place. The 25LM022 is ~25kohms
impedance, and is 1-1/8" dia. The 25LM024 is ~9kohms, and 2"dia. I also
have a fairly new D-104 cartridge in another head. I've swapped all 3
during QSO's with my HT-32, and have been told they are all very similar
in sound, the D-104 a bit bassier than the others perhaps. I do have a
bass voice, and have been told by close acquaintances that the std D-104
sounds quite true to the in person voice. Personally, I'm unable to make
useful audio discrimination evaluations, try not to, and take those of
others with a big grain of salt.
And Mouser is a good place to do business with, no minimum order, no
surcharges, quick shipping, usually the same day even if ordered very late
in the day. Their website makes shopping easy, much easier than
DigiKey's, for one, tho' D-K gives good service too.
Unsolicited/unpaid commercial endorsements. Worth the price.
