[Boatanchors] 12 vdc to 110 vac converter question:Rolling boatanchors away!

What I am seeing with any of the inverters I have tried is in new(er)
vehicles, the de-sensitizing of receivers comes about not from the
inverter, but from all the computers, and accessories included in the
vehicle. ON-Star desenses in the VHF range, but not UHF! If you
turn the vehicle off, power up the receiver through an inverter, the noise
isn't there, but as soon as you start the vehicle up, birdies and desense
follow.

I operate AM in the mobile, and went back to an old beat-up Chevy van
that has no computers in it. Remember there are multiple computers and
"PICs" running the vehicle systems now, so just Bonding to the chassis is
not going to solve all the problems. There is a separate computer for the
following, dashpanel, brakes system, ignition system, fuel injection with
fuel efficiency systems, keyless entry and the list goes on.

I think the reasoning goes, so it is noisy, most people use cell-phones
in their cars not radio transceivers. Even CBers have it hard as there are
no cigarette lighters so no high current socket for that foot warmer for the
cb rig.

On the bright side, there is a TV set and DVD player so "why would you
want to put a radio in there to detract from the motoring experience?" This
seems to be the mood of the "Car Makers". Not to mention there is no place
to put your radio anymore, except on the "shot-gun" seat.
