[Boatanchors] Fixing cracks in clear plastic?

If the plastic were properly countersunk, there would be no stress. But 
this requires planning and some precision. Basically you would countersink 
the hole so that the screw head bottoms out against the backing plate at 
the same time as the plastic is held against the panel. This would produce 
no stress on the plastic unless it is severely jarred.

Possibly you could retap the holes for the next size screw and 
recountersink the plastic to minimize the cracks and prevent further cracking.
