[Boatanchors] Fixing cracks in clear plastic?

Just a thought.
Possible to try MEK and dab it on with a q tip starting at the screw 
hole so that it wicks down through the crack but does not get on the 
face.  MEK will melt many plastics but not others so you would need just 
try it .  It might not  melt it to make it  clear again but might heal 
the crack enough so that it does not run.
