Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
Here is a short update:
No background noise, only very weak local BC stn heard---found open 100K (R23) & out of tol. 120K (R20) in 2nd converter sub-chassis.
No BFO sig---found bad connection on back of pitch control
No lower sideband---adj T9
Rcvr now working ok and pulling in sigs up thru 28mc. I thought I would go thru the alignment and did ok with the 50.75kc but I have very low confidence with the 1600 & 1700kc alignment (steps 2 & 3). It says to tune the sig. gen. through 1650 to find the center of the passband. I get max. indication (VTVM at point "B") at around 1653kc. Is this where I peak up the appropriate slugs rather than at 1650. Also I'm using Point "B" rather than the audio voltage for the indicator. It says adj. T9 to half output on the gentle side of the slope...does this mean tune T9 to half the "B" test-point voltage? As you can see, I'm real foggy on these steps. Can someone clarify this part of the alignment for me.
One thing else..I'm getting a BC stn. on 1650kc coming thru below and up thru 160mtrs. It blankets that whole section of the range. I'm thinking maybe a wavetrap for 1650...any idea where I can find some specs for making one?
Thanks again for any help...73 de Bill K4JYS
