Well,,,,,,,I managed to coax the outer cover off one of the caps. Amazing
that
I found not one but two caps in series under that cover. Cool.
What I did was to roll back the edge of the cover on one side and start
pushing
on the actual cap end on the other side. Finally used a shell off of a PL259
to
lay the side I was pushing on on the bench and pushed down on it. It worked
with some doing
of course. So now all I have to do is find a couple caps that will fit in
the cover
length wise in series and use some sort of filler. Then just recrimp the end
I rolled
back. I think this will work well. Just thought I would share.
Oh yeah I will have to cut an end piece out of plastic or card stock or
something to
cover the ends.

Greetings. Sangamo Made in USA Electrolytic caps 8uf at 700VDC as in Johnson
Adventurer etc. These are the dark orange/red covered caps that go each side
of
the choke in the HV supply. Has anyone had any luck in getting them apart to
replace
the innards with new caps? I have a pair of 375 volt caps to use for each
one but
thought I might try to get them into the old packages instead of just
replacing them.
Any experienced suggestions? Thanks!
