[Boatanchors] Solid state VFO - DX100?

Welllll let me explain.
Way back in 1965, I operated my first DX100.
On fone I'd be talking...then..like gurgle-gurgle-bloop-bloop etc..my VFO would take off and wonder around the RF spectrum.
Sometimes it's go for only a few minutes..sometimes I'd have to shut down.
All the local guys knew what was going on...and they'd just wait for me to come back on frequency...which I did...then after a few minutes...gurgle-gurgle etc.
Never attempted to fix it since when I wasn't on the rig...I'd be Cruisin for chicks ( I was 16 then ).
At age 19, I was crusin Vietnam...and let my license expire.
Now 40 years later - I'm back in to ham radio...and even got my old call sign back via the Vanity program!
Picked up a DX100 this past winter...COMPLETELY dismantled it...powder coated all the metal...with the case being Fire Engine Red & 'Chrome'...and completely re-wired it...including making a new harness, of course.
Have to get the front panel worked on by a professional sign shop to get my design done right.
At this moment, I doing the final adjustments.
The VFO - for what little time I've had it on...works.
However, when I 'rap' on the front panel - the frequency jumps...no surprise really.
BUT...just like the muscle cars we 'stylized'...I'm stylizing my DX100...and applying a little creative restoration into/onto it.
Thus...my interest in a SSVFO...for my DX100 "ala GTO".
Please excuse the lengthy reply....but I'm really into this thing....esp. since I'm not crusin for chicks anymore.
Warm regards,
Steve Tetorka
