Tim, how did he couple the longer wire antenna to the BC-611 ?
A few years back, I read that someone, postwar I believe, was using a 
BC-611 and touched its antenna to a metal flagpole. Which increased 
the 611's range. I don't doubt his testimony, but I have to admit, hard
for me to explain.
