Fun Fact:  Mark, AF6IM did a number of "Parachute Mobile" jumps out this
way, sometimes in conjunction with the Pacificon ARRL convention.

On 1 or 2 jumps in 2013/14 he brought along his BC-611.  I was on Mt Diablo
and I (and a bunch of others)  was able to work him on 2 meters FM simplex.
He jumps at 14K feet and opens "quickly", I was about 18 miles away, LOS
until he dropped behind some local terrain.
On the BC-611 experiment I was not able to hear him with the GRC-9 but I
recall he did copy me - I think he did work another guy much further away.
I think he tried it again sometime later but with a "long wire" antenna for
the 611.  Fun!
