[ARC5] BC-348R - fair price?

Hard for me to grasp the idea of a BC-348 going for $275 to $400+ unless still unissued, in box. 
( Last saw such around 1980, sold for $125 at ham store. ) 
But, "auctions are different". I recall bidding on an SCR-131 manual, and I dropped out before 
some nutty figure like $1500. Then later, I found I already owned that manual. Whew, what a 
mistake that would have been. 
Now FT-154, I think those get some good prices. More than you can get out here for the 
receiver itself !
