VERY interesting to read about the quinine !
Nice timing too, as I am about to venture out for shopping.
A word on the suggestions.
I tend to overdo things, so I really got on the zinc bandwagon. Don't overdo it. Zinc overdone will deplete another
mineral, copper. This showed up on my blood test. I backed of the zinc.
Quinine, you might not want to take it long-term. My mother took quinine for decades, and she credited it with
some hearing loss she suffered in her later years. She said that this was a little - known by - effect that your doctor
most likely will have never heard of. Hers had not. She regretted taking it for that long.
New York Times had an article about vitamin D levels related to survival. Higher vitamin D levels help the immune
system too, and this correlates with higher survival rates. I can't cite the article date, as I usually like to do, but it's
in the stack here. Dr. Asa on his doc talk show on the radio suggests your vitamin D blood level should be in the 80
range, on a zero to 100 scale, but says most Americans are around the 30 number. On the 0 - 100 scale, mine was
100 a couple years back, and the doc said "I could back off some" on my dosing. The NYT article also said the darker
the skin, the more D supplementation is required, unless one gets a lot of sunshine. The required supplementation
can vary as much as 3:1 compared to a pale skinned person, maybe even a little more.
