I think it's a compilation of changes made to bring the set from ARC-2
to ARC-2A condition.

The AN 16-30ARC2-12 mentions that the differences between the AN/ARC-2
(http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/ARC-2.jpg ) and the AN/ARC-2A includes
adding two fuse holders to the right side of the front panel, and
deleting the meter switch in the center under the other two toggles.
Looks like yours has been modified. In a quick scan, the only other
change I saw was the deletion of switch S-101 that was connected to the
band switch in the ARC-2(non-A), and could be used for controlling an
external switching mechanism, such as one which switched in an
additional loading capacitor for end-loading an antenna on the lower
frequencies.
The original contract numbers listed as AN/ARC-2(non-A) are NXsa-90807,
NOa(s)-10216, NOa(s)-11025, NOas 51-245, NOas 51-271a, NOa(s) 51-688f,
and NOas 52-918 through serial number 1199.
Sorry for the mid-boggling detail, but it is what it is...
