[ARC5] Rebuild or No: A Poll

Excellent question, Dave,

It's almost the situation I face with many Command-style sets resident in my
attic awaiting my finding 'time'.
So, I go with 2.

A colleague fills holes in plain aluminium sets by blind-riveting a small
piece of aluminium behind the errant hole, using some zinc-rich grease (as
was used for connecting aluminium conduit, eg, Almanox) and then using a
panel-beater's body filler loaded with ground-up aluminium. When fully cured
you have the original shielding, and the repair can be reduced to invisible
by careful sanding. No heating; no skilled welding. If there has been a
coating of Alodyne or MFP, then he mixes up and applies suitably coloured
clear varnish.
If the set is painted crackle - black or grey - it's a bit more difficult
because modern crackle finishes don't have the same 'resolution' as the
original.

As an aside, Dave: I keep getting bounces from your Earthlink ISP.

A question - <snip>
1. I would make this project a priority, giving it the time and effort
needed to return it to the air.
2. I would accept this project and add it to the "get around to it" list.
3. I would not accept a project needing this much time and effort, for
reasons I consider valid.
4. Other- please define.
