Clamp the black plastic knob portion of the assembly in a collet in a
lathe. Use "connector pliers" with nylon jaws on the knurled aluminum
ring and strike the end sharply with a small hammer while maintaining
pressure on the knurling. Anyone who works with mil connectors should
have one of these tools, like www.ebay.com/itm/262899764982 and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/332102716550 - use "connector pliers soft jaw"
as a search criterion and you will get a lot more.
