Got the "new" cable wired into the T-17 and the patient survived with no scars.I used channel locks on the metal ring and wrapped the button in masking tape.A small pipe wrench was employed to grab onto the button .
The whole thing was effortless once there was enough mechanical advantage to
loosen it up.It sounds extreme, but it was the the way to go.Unfortunately ,The previous owner replaced the cartridge with some other carbon that is also too high of a resistance to be
usable on the BC-456.looks like the original was screwed into the underside of the mouthpiece . I have no idea what that looked like.Probably no chance of ever finding a good one either...
There are parts on the way for the electret replacement project. I'll do a report on it when I get it finished.

It has a thin knurled metal rim at the bottom of the button , from which i suspect that the top plastic button unscrews from.It's really tight or stuck or this is not the way it comes apart.
I figured it was time for some sage advise before I break it.
Anybody ever played with one of these?
