I routinely use used computer power supplies, the kind that mount inside the computer, as
stand-alone 12.6 VDC power supplies. The ones I use are small, and RFI free. I clip out or
unsolder all the wires for any voltage OTHER THAN 12.6 VDC, then set the voltage
adjustment pot to at least 12.6 VDC output. Even the relatively "small" power supplies are
good for 25 amps and they are voltage regulated.
There are several sites on the web that show how to do this, and there was even an article in
QST magazine on doing this to provide a 12.6 VDC regulated bench supply.
I mount banana jacks on them and a pilot light. They work very well.
I also use them to power 12.6 VDC equipment, such as 2 meter mobiles, etc.
I have not yet tried to connect two in series, but I cannot think it would be much of a problem
to do so.
