[ARC5] Differences between groups

Hi Mike,

I have seen a few lists that are stringent about message topics. I am
even still a member of a couple of lists like that. Not all list members
are hams but I am. Ham radio and the radio/electronics hobbies are quite
diverse and most of have interests that cross strict subject lines.

It's interesting to see what others are doing along with narrower topics
of some of the lists. Most of the 'off topic' content is fairly
complimentary to the more strict topics. Finally, all of the list
members are people with their own lives and backgrounds and learning
more about who they are and their approach to life in general (affects
their approach to the list topics) makes the whole list experience more
worthwhile.

I have saved just about every message from every list I am on for the
past 10 or 12 years! I do use the [delete] key on "Test" messages.
Sometimes I have actually searched my own archive (a painful process) to
dig out something I needed *years* after it first appeared. I am on
enough lists (with overlapping content) to get more than 300 messages on
some days. I have learned to just skim for the ones that interest me
'today' and leave the rest for another day.

By the way..I have seven of the "ARC5" aircraft receivers with one each
to cover 160, 80, and 40 meters and four to cover 630 meters. A few of
them are not working well (not yet 'overhauled'). I have two of the LMs.
And a RAK. I have no plans to ever acquire any of the transmitters but I
enjoy learning about what the others are doing with those.

Enjoy the posts. Delete the ones you don't want.
