I see no reason to transistorize either the LM or the BC-221. Tubes for those are not 
scarce...yet...and the tubes are very lightly loaded anyway, and last almost forever.

I have yet to even "suspect" any of the tubes in either of my two BC-221-AKs or in any of my 
LMs.
