Hi Roy,

I did a quick review of the article. We probably have better quality 
devices to use today. The author was trying 'floor sweepings' from 
Poly-Paks etc. It's no surprise the VFO function was the most critical. 
I think - like you - I will keep the tubes in my LMs.
