Hi Roy,
Thanks for that pointer. I have a pair of LMs here and I don't intend to
convert them either. If I do I will build plug-in modules and unplug but
not smash the tubes! If a guy who professes to make things can't
fabricate a "tube base plug" he could always solder the transistors to
the tube bases just like they did with the resistors, capacitors, and
inductors.
As for EMPs - if they get to throwing nukes around we will have more
immediate problems to consume or attention and never mind about playing
radio. We will soon be gone (if not instantly) and won't need tubes or
transistors any more. Meanwhile, we should enjoy our gear any way we
want to.
