Wayne,
You may be absolutely correct. That said, I don't know when the film
was actually made, nor where? But, the radio clearly has the chrome
push-buttons. Another two movies, Fury and the one about the
tank-destroyers also have the FM sets. However, I now quote from movie
trivia:
/Sahara/ was filmed on location in the Imperial County
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_County,_California>, California,
portion of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anza-Borrego_Desert_State_Park>, near the
Salton Sea <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salton_Sea>, using soldiers
and equipment of the U.S. 4th Armored Division
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Armored_Division_%28United_States%29>,
then in training at the Desert Training Center
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_Training_Center>, as extras
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extra_%28acting%29>. Filmed in 1943.
