[ARC5] OT The BC-659- what were they thinking?

At that time, it would more than likely have been an ATA.  

The only other radios of the period that I can think of light enough to add 
to a P-51 would be the BC-745 Pogo Stick.  OK on the ground but very tall 
and no provision for remote operation.  And the SCR-283.
