Well, not to put too fine a point on it, the seller has mislabeled the
auction details because of a rear cover swapped from an FT-230-A. The
switch panel is actually one of the two types of FT-260-A's that were
produced during the war. To add insult to injury, some previous owner
evidently used it in a receiver that was modified, requiring a need to
file a semicircular shaped relief on the right side of the FT-260-A
front panel. It might have been because of a need to run wires from the
inside of the receiver through the gap. Hard to say at this point. In
any case, not really worth a second look unless someone is desperate.
With all the interest in the local control adapters, I slapped up a
quick web page with photos on the subject -
http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/Command_Set_Local_Control_Adapters.html
- it shows what an unmodified bare aluminum FT-260-A should look like.
