I understand and would normally agree.
But that is Forbidden. Premise is that one must be able to
return the 12SK7 to the socket and operate as original. Anything
that prevents that (like the resulting 20 volts on the 12SK7
plate) is a "show stopper." Seems to work OK where it is. The
zener is constantly in conduction and the RF rides on the
current. Diodes in conduction in RF paths which switch TX/RX are
common in modern rigs.
