I was going to suggest the same thing, however realized that to do that he
needs to modify the radio. It will not simply be plug and play. I wonder if
a 0.01 across the zener might help. 73 - Mike

Oh dear.
The zener shouldn't be anywhere near a signal path.
Take the zener out of there and put it on the B+ side of the IFT before the
decoupling cap.
