There were several attempts at a 'Surplus conversion manual'. To which 
particular one do you refer? Evenson and Beech? Kneitel? CQ mag? 73 Amateur 
Radio Today mag?

There is an article in the Surplus Conversion Manual Volume 1 using the eye 
tube on a BCB BC-946-B receiver.

The article is available as a free download from the web.

The article will show in its schematic where the RCA connector should be 
clipped to for the AVC signal to the eye tube.
