Hi Glen

thank you for the data on the SX111 drifting. It's actually a fairly nice receiver that I've had for many years although not used that much. I'm not sure the "Damp Chaser is an asset or a liability" as a thermal stabilizing device. Base on the drift rate I'm inclined to look at the Neg comp capacitors to see what can be done electronically. But that's another project. BTW can you point me to the hallicrafters links?

thank you

Bob, KE6f

Yes, the "damp chaser", in the SX-111, has to be activated, for several hours, before making any meaningful stability tests. Best to plug it in for 24-hours and then do the testing. In the "real world", most operators left the unit plugged in all the time and the unit reached temperature and stayed there. Same issue as you, I was getting 8-10 kHz drift/hr, too. It does settle down after a couple of hours.. The internal heater is working, it appears. I now understand this is a common thread in SX-111 receivers. ______________________________________________________________ARC5 mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/arc5Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:ARC5 at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
