Hi Bill (and others)
When I was a student the front page from "Time of London" hung on the
door outside the cashier's office.
It told about "a great battle" that took place "ten days ago". It was
the battle of Trafalgar - 1805.
The news was carried by pigeon to Portsmouth, and from thence to
Westminster - by horse.
The interval between the battle and the result of the battle reaching
the ears of the PM was 10 days.
That idea always fascinated me.
