Group,
Are not these same headsets provided in Cub Scout crystal radio kits? Way back then/when? When I was a Cub Scout and built my crystal radio (1960) and then was hooked forever much to the chagrin of my children as they have to dispense of all my Very Elegant and Valuable Junque. Somewhere buried in the "pile" is a Cub Scout crystal set. Not my original but one I acquired many years ago.
As I recall, you were to connect the pin plugs to two Fahnstock (sp) clips.
Also, there were pin tip to 1/4" adapters available back in the "old days" as 1/4" plug/jacks became popular
Had one, sold it. Wish I hadn't.
Jay

Todd,
Concur with you comments and observations, all. They do work rather
well but, as you say, they are arguably the most uncomfortable headsets
one could find. Do yours have metric threads on the adjustment
thumbscrews and do you find that the quality of the cup molding is poor,
too? It'd be intersting to know if they're all like mine are. The real
commentary, though, may well be that they were, indeed, actual DLSA
procured items, in spite of the lack of proper and usual markings on the
packages.
