I think there is an early RCA tube manual, probably from circa 1940, either on BAMA or on the "Boatanchor Pix" web site.
Not sure if it contains the 1626, but does have the 6J5 and 12J5.

Hello Neil,
Sorry I can't be more specific. I have exactly the same RCA
Tx tube book. I looked in the RCA Rx tube book and there's
no info about the 6J5 or the 12J5 - but mine is a relatively
recent edition. I do have older editions in the ceiling, but
that's a difficult job. My Philips Miniwatt valve data book
is no more helpful. The only other source I have is the
5-volume set of the RCA tube handbook that I picked up at a
swapmeet in California; unfortunately, it must have been
'dropped' at some time because all the pages are out of
order - putting it back in order is on my To Do list.
My only other suggestion is to put the 1626 on a valve
tester, vary the plate Voltage and the grid Voltage and plot
actual plate characteristics. Then draw your Class C load
line.

Thank you Brian.
I think I can actually do better than that. I have
the RCA Transmitting Tubes manual for 1956 (price one
dollar!) and it lists the maximum CCS ratings for the 1626
when used as RF Power Amplifier and Oscillator - Class C.
Unfortunately it doesn't give typical operating
conditions, hence my questions about plate current and bias
resistor.
Max plate voltage, current, and dissipation are 250V,
25mA, and 6.25W. I think I could probably run it at 5W and
get between 3 and 4 watts out of it.
