Thank you. The thing is, the 1626 is rated as a Class-C
oscillator-amplifier, good to 30 MHz. That's why it appears in the RCA
Transmitting Tube manual.

I guess the manual didn't give typical operating conditions because
everything is fine so long as none of the maximum CCS ratings are exceeded
- plate voltage (250), plate current (25mA), and plate dissipation (6.25W).

So for an oscillator or amplifier, you find the self-bias or fixed-bias
setting at which neither of the latter two parameters are exceeded. Perhaps
it's that simple.
