I wasn't around then Tom, but none of it horrifies me. No differently than
seeing a movie shot decades ago crashing then-plentiful surplus aircraft or
blowing up old cars we'd give our left....arm for today. If, as you
illustrate, we see it in the context of the time it was used and modified,
it makes perfect sense. Now, if someone chopped up an old ARA/ARC-5/RAT set
today just for something to do, well....that would be tougher to
understand.

Instead of horrified, I'm thankful for the hams of yesterday who supplied
the demand for this gear and bought so much of it that beautiful examples
continue to surface today. Rare sets, too. I bet few are coming out of
gov't surplus auctions....

Of course, there are those sets that leave you wondering.....just where was
Joe Ham headed with this one? And why?

Shelby is still up in the air at this point, but hope to see you there.
