THAT is what I meant before: Not "Rust-Solv". My memory was faulty.

I have used "Evapo-Rust" with success on many different items. Supposedly,
it can be left on the item after it has removed the rust as a further rust
preventative.

The biggest trouble with using it on small items is that those items must be
immersed in the stuff. It is a light greenish-yellow color and has the
consistency of light oil. It feels a little bit "greasy" too.

For ancient rifle barrels, I just plug up one end and pour the barrel full from
the breech end. After a day or two, I remove the cork and pour it out,
Usually, it has turned black by then. According to the directions on the jug, it
can be used over and over again until it turns black, then it can be safely
poured down the drain.

This stuff has rescued bores on old rifles (WWI and WWII) which had been
used with corrosive ammo and then not quite properly cleaned. It will take
bluing off the surface of rifles so it should be kept off those.

It is good stuff, if used properly.

As Richard says, although I have no idea what is in it, the makers insist that
it contains nothing harmful. So far, my experiences with it has borne that out.

YMMV.

However, I AM intensely curious about what it contains. If I find out, I'll post
that info here.
