hello guys, if you look up the Lorenz Lo6 K39a rx on the web you can see just how good a regen set can be. not a lot of superhets are much better. it is considered the ultimate TRF . the kreigsmarine liked regen sets for two main reasons . they imagined that spurious radiation would be lower than a superhet , and on board ship with many powerful transmitters going there is no second channel or cros mod interference.
the Lo6 had 6 tuned circuits , hence the name , and covered 1.5 to 21 megs. it was sensitive on cw to 0.4 microvolts . there are a few around and you have to be pretty strong to shift one ! one thing is the low noise level , no mixer noise, and the other is that any signal you hear is the actual one . there are no spurii . cheers, alan G4GEN
