Get an RAL and compare that to the Lorenz, Allan. I consider the RAL to be 
the absolute finest HF TRF receiver ever built. But then again, I have never 
used the Lorenz.

As far as I know, Germany used regens for all of their military comms until 
quite late in WWII: even their aircraft radios.

A properly built regen will ALWAYS beat the socks off a poorly built super.
